Dubbing/ Time Sync

We offer dubbing and time sync services for when you need to localise your video content. Dubbing and time sync-to-picture help the video to continue to make sense to the viewer albeit in a different language.

Matinée can provide UN-style time sync, where the original audio is still audible but at a quieter level, with the translated, new voice over played alongside it at normal volume. This style of time sync is often utilised in news features where the interviewee, speaking in a foreign language, has a translated version played over the top.

Dubbing differs from time-sync in that the original audio is removed completely and replaced with a new voice speaking in a different language. To achieve successful foreign language dubbing, we must first timecode the source video and then ‘adapt’ the translation of the original audio. Whether you choose dubbing or time sync, we’ll help select the right voice artist who will preserve the authenticity of the original speaker’s message.

Animations

Animation services
Whether you are creating an animation for entertainment or education purposes, Matinée will help you find exactly the right voice to fit the character on-screen and provide a high quality recording for you to work with.

It’s typical in the industry for the voice over to be recorded before the animation is created. At Matinée, our voice artists will read your script at a natural reading pace, and we will send the files back so you can adapt your animation around the audio. This process allows for the animation to be influenced by the narration and the way in which it is performed. By doing this, it allows enough time for specific actions or objects to be shown at the exact time the voice describes them. Without this, the sound and visuals could become out of sync and cause the viewer to become disinterested in your content.

Our team of experts understand how important it is to create meaningful video content for animation. So, let us help you bring your next animation project to life, and wow your audience.

Child Voices

For a range of different projects, from radio and TV advertisements to eLearning content, sometimes a more youthful voice is required. If your target market is children and young people, then featuring more of a childlike voice in your project is a great way to engage and connect with them.

To help you cast the perfect voice for your project, Matinée will provide a selection of hand-picked voice over demos that fit your brief. When it comes to casting a children’s voice, we won’t limit our search to just child and/or teenage voice actors. A number of our adult voice over artists specialise in childlike voices, and are able to perform the voice of a variety of younger age groups. Young women especially are great at producing high-pitched, youthful tones, which are perfect for impersonating the voices of children, both male and female.

Whatever their age, we can help you connect with your target audience with our specially-selected child voices for a range of projects.

Character Voices

Character voice over
From children’s toys to eLearning content, character voices are essential to a range of voice over projects. Featuring a character within your explainer video or eLearning course can be a great way of engaging your audience’s emotions and forming a deeper connection with them. Furthermore, character voices are key when it comes to adding life to toys, animations, and video games, to name just a few.

We work with a range of talented voice artists who are experts at voicing all kinds of characters. When selecting a voice for your character, we won’t take a one size fits all approach, and will provide a selection of voice demos for you to choose from based on the specific requirements of your character. From a fun and energetic voice for a children’s toy, to more mysterious tones for the protagonist of your video game, we can help you bring your character to life, no matter who they are.

Video Games

Video gaming voice over services
When it comes to creating a video game, the process of selecting the right voices to bring the game to life shouldn’t be overlooked. In order to create an engaging storyline, and to evoke an emotional response from your players, an effective voice over is key.

No matter what type of game you’re working on, from fantasy to sci-fi, we’ll be able to provide a high-quality, professional voice recording to enhance the gaming experience of your players. As a specialist voice over agency, we work with a wide range of voice artists who are experts in performing character voices for video games. We understand the importance of creating complex, engaging characters, and know that selecting the perfect voice is the key to good engagement.

Announcements

Announcement voice over services
A commanding, engaging voice has the power to cut through the noise and connect with your audience, delivering the most effective announcement. There is a huge range of announcement types, so whether you need an authoritative voice, or someone with more calming tones, we’ll be able to help you select the perfect voice for your announcement.

We record everything from stadium announcements to multilingual airline prompts, and understand how important announcements are to the smooth-running of businesses and services. By sending us a detailed project brief, we’ll be able to present a selection of appropriate voice artists so you can choose the right voice to get the most out of your announcement recording.

Voice Over Project Types: Your Questions Answered

How do you choose the right voice artist for a commercial project? +

Choosing the right voice artist for your advertising project means looking at their vocal qualities, range, experience with the language or accent, and their ability to convey the right emotion and tone.

Listening to demos and checking client reviews can also help you make the best choice.

Working with a professional voice over agency like our team at Matinée Multilingual can simplify this process. Our experienced talent coordinator and project managers know our voice actors well and can help match you with the perfect fit for your project.

What are usage fees? +

When you pay for a voice over recording, you might also pay usage fees in addition to the standard recording fee. Whether you pay these fees and how much depends on how, where, and for how long you plan to use the voice recording.

Usage fees are paid to the voice artist if their voice is used to help make a profit. Also called buy-out fees, these are essentially a licensing agreement between you (the client) and the artist.

For example, if you use a voice recording exclusively within your company, such as for a staff training video, usage fees typically do not apply. However, when the recording is used publicly or for commercial gain, usage fees are usually required.

Other examples where usage fees will likely be applicable include: TV, radio, website, digital or cinema broadcast, museums, events, exhibition or in-stores.

Read our in-depth guide for more information on usage fees.

How much does a commercial voice casting cost? +

Our voice talent casting is free of charge. We want to help you find the perfect commercial voice over actor for your project, so we’ll work with you until we find the right fit.

What is IVR voice over, and why does it matter? +

IVR is the recorded voice your customers hear when they call your business — guiding them through menus, managing call flow, and shaping their first impression of your brand. A clear, well-produced IVR system keeps customers on the line and reflects positively on your business.

What makes a good IVR voice? +

Two things above all: clarity and warmth. We select our IVR voice artists specifically for the quality of their language skills and their diction, as well as their ability to communicate in a way that feels genuinely friendly — not robotic or impersonal.

Do you offer multilingual IVR? +

Yes. We’ve been delivering multilingual voice prompts for phone systems around the world for over 40 years. Whether you need one language or many, we can help you connect with your customers in the language that works for them.

Can you produce voice over for eLearning content? +

Absolutely. We have many years of experience recording voice over for eLearning, and we understand what makes this kind of content work: clear delivery, professional tone, and genuine engagement that keeps learners focused.

Is eLearning voice over different from other types of narration? +

Yes, and it’s an important distinction. Voicing eLearning content requires specific skills that differ from advertising or audiobook narration. The pacing, tone, and style all need to support learning and not just sound good.

What file formats do you deliver for eLearning projects? +

We can deliver in the file format your platform requires. We accommodate the most popular eLearning platforms, so your audio will be ready to use without any extra conversion or technical headaches.

What is an explainer video voice over? +

Explainer videos introduce a product or service to an audience in a clear, engaging way. They’re typically short, which means the script and the recording session tends to be compact too. Most explainer narrations can be completed within a single studio hour.

Are there usage fees for explainer video voice over? +

No. Because explainer videos are informational rather than commercial, there are no usage fees attached to the recording.

How do I choose the right voice for my explainer video? +

You need a voice artist who can articulate your product or service with clarity and confidence, while also reflecting your brand’s personality. The right voice becomes a distinctive, memorable part of how your audience experiences your brand. We’ll send you a curated selection of demos to help you find the perfect match.

Can you record explainer voice over in other languages? +

Yes, we work with voice artists across more than 80 languages, so your explainer can reach audiences wherever they are.
