This animation features the voice of James, one of our workshop students.
James is a student at the University of Cumbria and studies Film and Television production. James has always been fascinated by voice actors and decided to sign up for The Matinée Voice Over Workshop Saturday course in June 2017 to learn more.
James was open minded about what to expect. He was welcomed by our voice coach André at our Reading studios on Oxford Road. André is an experienced voice over actor and tutor, and knows the ins, outs, and all the in-betweeny bits of the voice over industry. Basically – he knows a lot!
Accompanying André for the day were Tom and Helen. Tom is one of our experience Audio Engineers. He regularly directs voice over sessions and cleans and edits the audio to a professional standard. Helen is one of our preferred English voice-over talents and is also a big west end star. She joined us for the day to help out with coaching the students. She gave lots of great advice on how to further their careers and the different paths that voice acting can lead to. Helen took over in the afternoon for the recording and production side of the course.
One of the English scripts prepared for the students to use in the studio is from a real project we produced for Quaker Oats.
James did a fabulous job with this script and could easily be mistaken for a professional voice actor!
His voice exudes confidence and the tone is upbeat, light and friendly to match the specifications of the brief. His timing and breathing improved with the help and advice provided by Helen and Tom.
Well done on your fantastic efforts at The Matinée Voice Over Workshop and good luck in the future James!
